Course Description: This specialized Elevator Rescue training is designed to enhance responder safety and operational efficiency during elevator emergencies. The course will cover risk management, best practices, and introduce relevant codes such as ASME A17.4. Fire service phases 1 and 2 will be reviewed, along with techniques for opening both hoist way and car doors, including the use of door restrictors when present. The class also addresses power control, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency top exit removals. Poling techniques, both across and down, will be demonstrated if the site allows.

In addition to improving technical rescue capabilities, this training prepares responders for elevator-related incidents that may involve malicious intent, such as sabotage or terrorism, highlighting the importance of coordinated, rapid, and informed intervention in high-threat environments.

Important: Pre-registration is required for this class. If you show up on the day of the class without pre-registering, you will be turned away, as there is a strict maximum number of students allowed.
