For immediate release
A message from the Tioga County Board of Commissioners:
Effective March 23, 2020, the Tioga County Courthouse is closed to the public until further notice.
However, the lobby is open for the public to be able to drop off documents for our various departments, i.e. Prothonotary, Register/Recorder, Treasurer, Tax Claim, etc. If it is imperative to speak to an employee in one of our departments, please call them and they can come out to meet you.
There is also no public access to our Emergency Services and 911 center, and Tioga County Prison, until further notice. Any public meetings that are normally held by public groups within county buildings are being postponed until further notice. Meetings are being held via teleconference where possible.
We recognize the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19/Coronavirus and the unknown impact that it will have on our community, state, and nation.
Our priority continues to be the health and wellbeing of our residents. We encourage each of you to take a personal responsibility in lowering the risks by limiting travel, practicing good hygiene, and staying informed as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Visit their website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html
The Board of Commissioners has issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency, which can be found here. This action places Tioga County on the list for funding that may become available to assist with the effects of this disaster.
We have created a COVID-19 Task Force with several local health care professionals. The goal is to closely monitor the situation, help fill needs where possible, and communicate to the public.
As more information becomes available, we will issue updated information.
