The Tioga County Board of Commissioners fully supports Governor Wolf’s state-wide stay at home order.  We are very proud of the citizens of Tioga County for the great job they are doing to help neighbors and to prevent the spread of COVID-19.   Please click on the link below for more information on COVID-19 guidelines and updates.  By strictly following these guidelines, we can defeat this enemy before it reaches our hospitals.  Let’s all do our part to make Tioga County one of the least affected counties in the state.

Tioga County was formed on March 26, 1804 from parts of Lycoming County.   The name, derived from an Native American word meaning "the forks of a stream", honors the Tioga River.

Wellsboro, the county seat, lies just 12 miles east of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, one of state’s most spectacular natural attractions.  While you’re visiting the Canyon, be sure to enjoy the charming and historic appeal reflected by the town’s Victorian architecture, tree-lined streets, and old fashioned gas lights.

With seven lakes and thousands of acres of state forest land throughout the county, there is always room for campers, hikers, bikers, and fishers to spread out and enjoy the peaceful serenity of nature.
