The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office currently has a National Certified Child Safety Seat Technician on board. Parents and caregivers can take advantage of certified child safety seat technicians to ensure their children are properly secured in there vehicles.

Each child seat could take around 20 minutes to inspect for safe installations – Infant seats may take longer. Parents and caregivers are reminded to bring their child seat and vehicle manuals to the check. Child seats over six years old should be replaced prior to the check.

The check is geared toward parents and caregivers who transport children under 8 years old. Most child seats are improperly installed and the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office and its safety partners want to ensure motorists know the proper installation procedures.
